If school cricket stats is anything to go by in the game of cricket, the U-16 team of the Children’s Welfare School would surely like to forget the match they played against the Swami Vivekanand International School (SVIS) Borivali.
In a bizarre scenario, the Welfare school players were bowled out for just seven runs handing Swami Vivekanand International School a massive victory by a margin of 754 runs at the New Era Cricket Club plot, Azad Maidan on Wednesday, November 20.
Chasing 761 to win, the Welfare School was bowled out for just seven runs. All those seven runs were scored from extras. Alok Pal bagged 6 for 0 from 3 overs, captain Varod Vaze took 2 for 3, while the other two batsmen were run-out.
Batting first, the SVIS scored 605 for 4 in 39 overs. What’s worse was that the Children’s Welfare School were penalised 156 runs for not completing their 45 overs in time.
Meet Mayekar (338 off 134 balls), Krishna Parte (95) and Ishan Roy (67) were the chief scorers for Swami Vivekananda International school.
