The Tamil Nadu Premier League is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Tamil Nadu, India. The league was formed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association in 2016. So far, 8 teams have competed in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. TNPL’s first edition was won by Tuti Patriots. They beat Chepauk Super Gillies by 120 runs in the final held at M.A Chidambaram Stadium. In the past and present edition, prolific Indian cricketers like Ravichandran Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik, KL Rahul, Abhinav Mukund, Baba Aparajith, Vijay Shankar have been participating to add more interest and create attention for the tournament. The 3rd edition of the tournament started from 19th Jul, 2019 with 8-teams competing with each other in 32-matches.
Chepauk Super Gillies won the 2019 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title after defeating Dindigul Dragons by 12 runs in the final match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium on 15th August 2019. Chepauk Super Gillies sets a low score of 126-8 in 20 overs but their bowlers did a fantastic job to restrict Dindigul Dragons 114-9 in 20 overs. It was the second TNPL title for CSG, who earlier won this title in year 2017, while it was the second defeat for Dindigul Dragons in the finals for two consecutive years.
