The upcoming Tennis Premier League 2023 promises an exciting showcase of tennis talent, scheduled to unfold from December 12 to 17 at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. Eight teams, namely Bengal Wizards, Hyderabad Strikers, Pune Jaguars, Delhi Binny’s Brigade, Punjab Tigers, Bengaluru SG Mavericks, Mumbai Leon Army, and Gujarat Panthers, will compete in this thrilling championship.
The league stage, consisting of twenty matches, will be followed by the semi-finals and the grand final on December 17. Each team will engage in five league matches, vying for a spot in the semis. The star-studded event will feature prominent personalities like Leander Paes, Sonali Bendre, Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, Sonu Sood, and Tapsee Pannu, who will be present to cheer for their respective teams.
Indian tennis sensation Sumit Nagal, ranked World No. 138 on the ATP tour, will showcase his skills for the Gujarat Panthers alongside Karman Kaur Thandi and Mukund Sasikumar. The Mumbai Leon Army will boast the talent of Ernests Gulbis, who achieved a career-high singles ranking of No. 10 in 2014. Sowjanya Bavisetti and Vijay Sundar Prashanth will join Gulbis in representing the Mumbai Leon Army.
Czech Republic’s Lukas Rasol, a former World No. 26 in 2014, will be a key player for the Pune Jaguars, accompanied by Manish Sureshkumar and Rutuja Bhosale. Bhosale, who secured a gold medal in the mixed doubles event at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou with Rohan Bopanna, adds an extra layer of accomplishment to the Pune Jaguars’ roster.
