Rebecca Adelman is the attorney representing Joshua Holloway, the teenager allegedly punched by Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant. Based in Memphis, Adelman has operated her law practice, Adelman Law Firm and Claims Management, since 2001.

Adelman specializes in representing insurance companies, long-term care providers, and their insurers regionally and nationally. As a member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and Tennessee Certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE), her firm is recognized for its commitment to diversity and business excellence.

With over 30 years of legal practice, Adelman’s focus has been on healthcare, insurance defense, and business litigation. She earned her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1990.

Throughout her career, Adelman has garnered various awards, including being chosen as one of the 100 Most Influential Memphians by the King Family Foundation. In 2016, she received the Super Women in Business award, showcasing her significant contributions to the legal and business communities.

Adelman’s expertise extends to the sports industry, as demonstrated when she was a speaker for “The Racial and Gender Report Card: Hiring Practices in the NBA, WNBA, and NFL” in 2019, solidifying her legitimacy in athletics.

In the ongoing case involving Ja Morant, Adelman has taken a unique approach by using basketball visuals. She presented pictures of Morant dunking over Miami Heat’s Kevin Love as evidence, emphasizing the force applied during the incident. Adelman carried a basketball into the courtroom, arguing that Morant’s athleticism plays a crucial role in understanding the case.

The alleged assault took place in July 2022 when Morant reportedly punched Holloway during a basketball game. Morant has yet to release an official statement regarding the case. His legal representative, Keenan Carter, claims Morant acted in self-defense.

Morant is currently serving a 25-game suspension related to a different incident where he was seen holding a firearm during a live social media broadcast. Expected to return after five games, his absence has impacted the Grizzlies, who currently hold a 6-15 record this season.

The legal proceedings surrounding Ja Morant’s assault case remain ongoing, with Adelman diligently representing her client’s interests. The unique use of basketball visuals adds a distinctive dimension to the courtroom defense strategy, showcasing Adelman’s innovative approach in navigating complex legal challenges.
