Sarfaraz Khan is going great guns in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season for Mumbai. He has now slammed his second successive 200+ plus score for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh at the HPCA Stadium at Dharamshala. The 22-year old batsman has now scored more than 60% of runs for his team with this double ton.

Sarfaraz came in to bat with Mumbai at a precarious 16-3 in the first innings. Thereafter, Mumbai lost another wicket with the scoreline at 71-4. In came captain Aditya Tare who helped Mumbai recover in tandem with Sarfaraz Khan. The two batsmen added 143 runs in their partnership post which Tare was dismissed for 62 runs. Sarfaraz was well-set by this time and kept on scoring runs with precision, reaching his double century in only 199 balls with 29 fours and three sixes. Sarfaraz eventually remained not out on 226 at the end of the day’s play with Mumbai at 372-5. His partner Shubham Ranjane remained unbeaten on 44 runs as well.

Sarfaraz Khan was all over the headlines recently, when he scored an unbeaten triple hundred versus Uttar Pradesh in the previous game. On the final day of the Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh, he scored an unbeaten triple hundred for guiding Mumbai to a much-needed draw, becoming the 8th Mumbai player to score a triple century. Sarfaraz Khan thus joins an elite group of players for Mumbai including Sunil Gavaskar, Vijay Merchant and Ajit Wadekar.

Sarfaraz Khan has played 14 first-class matches till now and in 21 innings, he has scored 951 runs with a best score of  301 not out. He has a strike rate of 66.97 with an average of 52.83 and two hundreds. He also has 3 fifties to his name. In List A cricket, he has played 13 matches with 11 innings to his credit. He has scored 257 runs with 100 as his highest score. He has 1 hundred in this format with an average of 36.71 and strike rate of  96.25. In T20s, Sarfaraz Khan has played 56 matches with 41 innings and 633 runs to his name. He has an average of 23.44 with a strike rate of 138.51. He has a highest score of 67 in this format with two fifties in all.

He previously garnered headlines at a very young age of 12, when he broke the record then for the highest ever score in the inter-school Harris Shield tournament. He made a whopping 439 runs for Rizvi Springfield in a fabulous innings that saw him hitting 56 boundaries and 12 sixes in all. Previously, Sarfaraz Khan was suspended by the Mumbai Cricket Association due to charges of having fudged his real age. However, the board ultimately accepted an advanced test results and revoked his suspension.
