From August 3, 2019 India’s Tour of West Indies will start which includes three T20 Internationals, three One Day Internationals and two Test matches. There have been numerous India vs West Indies head to head matches in various tournaments. Here we will be discussing India vs West Indies series head to head stats starting from the first matches.

Test Cricket:

India has faced West Indies in Test Cricket in 96 matches out of which India has won 20 and lost 30. India drew 46 of the Test Cricket matches against West Indies. The first match was played in 1948 and the last match played till date was in 2018.

One Day Internationals:

India has faced West Indies in One Day International matches 127 times out of which India has won 60 ODI matches and lost 62 ODI matches. Two matches were tied and no result was obtained for 3 of the matches. The first of the India vs West Indies matches under the One Day International format was played in 1979 and the last one was played in 2019.

Twenty20 Internationals:

Number of matches played in this category is less since this category was developed quite recently. There have been 11 matches between India and West Indies under T20 Internationals out of which 5 were won by India and 5 were won by West Indies. 1 match did not have any result. The first T20 International match was played in 2009 and the last one was played in 2018.

The first Test Cricket victory by team India was in 1952. The Kapil Dev led Team India had its first World Cup victory in 1983. India defeated West Indies in the final match. In 1984, India achieved the Asia Cup. The M.S. Dhoni led Team India had its first ICC T20 International World Cup win in 2007. In 2009, India was at the top in the list of teams of ICC Test Cricket. In 2011, M.S. Dhoni led India to its 2^nd World Cup win. In 2002, Sourav Ganguly led Team India to become the joint winner of ICC Champion’s Trophy with Sri Lanka. In 2002, Team India was again led by Sourav Ganguly to win the NatWest Trophy.

The recent players of our Indian Cricket Team include Virat Kohli (captain), Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, K.L. Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Dinesh Karthik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Kedar Jadhav and Mayank Agarwal. The key game changers for the team may be, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Bumrah. In the upcoming series, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will not be playing as he will be serving the paramilitary regiment of India.
