Team India:

The ICC has granted full membership to Team India for ODIs, T20Is, and Tests. The team is governed by the BCCI.

In 1952, the first Test victory was achieved by Team India. India has won the ICC World Cup twice, first in 1983 and second in 2011. Some other achievements by Team India include victories at the Asia Cup in 1984, the ICC World T20 in 2007 and also the ICC Champion’s Trophy and the NatWest Trophy in 2002.

In August, 2019, India will leave for a tour of the West Indies, a vital one since it comes right after the 2019 ICC World Cup. The Indian Team to West Indies Tour 2019 squad for ODIs includes Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kedar Jadhav, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed and Navdeep Saini.

The Indian Team for the Test matches includes Virat Kohli (captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, C Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper) Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav.

Team West Indies:

The cricket team of West Indies is a multi-national one and the Anglophone Caribbean Region is represented by it. The team is governed by Cricket West Indies. The West Indies Cricket Team has numerous achievements under their name, some of which are victories at the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1975 and in 1979, the ICC World T20 in 2012 and 2016 and the ICC Champion’s Trophy wins in 2004 and 2006.

The West Indies squad that would be facing Team India during India’s Tour of West Indies in August 2019 in all likelihood will have the following players-

Chris Gayle, Jason Holder (captain), Carlos Brathwaite (vice-captain), Sheldon Cottrell, Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Oshane Thomas, Kemar Roach, Sunil Ambris, Ashley Nurse, Shannon Gabriel and Fabian Allen.

Team India should keep their eyes open for players like Chris Gayle, Darren Bravo, Holder and Brathwaite.
