The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 will get underway from 20th February 2020 where defending champions Quetta Gladiators will take on Islamabad United in the opening match of the tournament at Karachi’s National Stadium. It will be the first time that all the Pakistan Super League matches will be staged in Pakistan. Meanwhile, PSL 2020’s overseas signings this time has some of the best names from world cricket. Chris Lynn, Dale Steyn, Kieron Pollard are all set to light up the PSL this time around. A total of 36 players will play in the PSL this season. Chris Lynn, Lahore Qalandars
Lynn recently played in UAE in the Abu Dhabi T10 League where he ended as the highest scorer in the tournament with 371 runs hitting 29 fours and 31 sixes in the process. Playing for the Qalandars, Lynn is expected to get into his big-hitting form and help them post big totals. He is the all-time leading run-scorer in the BBL with 2332 runs from 75 innings. He is among the big names of PSL 2020’s overseas signings.

Dale Steyn, Islamabad United
The most successful South African Test bowler, Steyn is a well-travelled T20I cricketer as well. Having played all over the world. Having retired from Tests in 2019, Steyn is now focusing on elonging his career in the limited-overs formats. He was superb for Cape Town Blitz in the Mzansi Super League 2019, where he has been among the top wicket-takers. Islamabad United, who picked him in the Platinum category, will hope the 36-year-old can carry that form into PSL 2020.
Kieron Pollard, Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar Zalmi decided to retain Kieron Pollard ahead of the PSL 2020 draft. The current West Indian skipper is nearing 500 T20 matches in his career and this stint in the PSL will help him achieve this feat. He is one of the best power-hitters and adds an exciting dynamic to Peshawar Zalmi’s middle order. He is another big name among PSL 2020’s overseas signings. Pollard will be on national duties for the first half season.
Alex Hales, Karachi Kings
Despite being out of England set up for some time now, Hales is enjoying rich success in franchise T20I cricket. He ended as the second-highest run-getter in BBL 09 with 576 runs. Hales was Karachi’s first pick from the Platinum category. He will be batting alongside Babar Azam and the duo will be an exciting pair when batting together.

Moeen Ali, Multan Sultans
England all-rounder Moeen Ali is also nearing 150 T20 games in his career. 3,206 runs and 102 wickets makes him one of the most established and experienced T20 cricketers going around. His experience of playing all over the world is what the Sultans will be banking on. He was a part of the England squad which won the ICC World Cup last year.
Tight Security
Overseas players denied from playing in Pakistan after the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan players in 2008. Zimbabwe toured the country in 2015, but security concerns were still a point of debate. They provided security to the different heads of state visiting but this time they have tightened the security with a certain amount of diligence. Roads to stadiums will be blocked and fans will have to go through multiple security cordons.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani believes the willingness of overseas stars to sign up illustrates how security has improved in a country where the army has fought a militant insurgency for years.
