India decides to rest three key players ahead of the Third T20I

The Indian team management has announced that key players Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the third and final T20I match of the series against Windies. India has already secured the series win with the 71-run win at Lucknow in the second T20I game.

Leading into the final match of the tour which will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 11th November (Sunday), BCCI has opted to test its bench strength. This also facilitates a resting period for the trio of Umesh, Kuldeep and Bumrah. “The decision has been made to allow the trio to be in the best physical condition ahead of India’s tour to Australia,” states BCCI’s press release.

The selection committee has added Siddarth Kaul to the squad for this particular match. The pace bowler made his T20I debut against Ireland and has featured in two matches for the nation so far.

There are other players in the contention of appearing for the Indian team in the last match as well. Washington Sundar has recovered from the injury that had kept him out of the game for a lengthy period. The off-spinner will be raring to have a go in this game hosted by the home city. Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, who recently recorded the best bowling figures in List A cricket, can also have a shot at making his T20I debut.

Kuldeep Yadav had picked up five wickets from the first two T20I matches. Umesh Yadav was replaced by Bhuvneshwar Kumar after a dismal showing in the first game. Bumrah had been India’s go-to bowler in the death overs, and he will sorely be missed.

India’s squad for the 3rd T20I against Windies:

Rohit Sharma (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Shahbaz Nadeem and Siddarth Kaul.
