Scott Boland poses huge threat to Indian batsmen in pink-ball Test. Former Australian fast bowler Ryan Harris on the backs of his peers who have been pitted against one another in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Pat Cummins: The power of him is not giving up at the crease. Being consistent in execution. He captains his x-bowling team, he captains his side. You know, he took a vacation. I don’t think he had played a game before the Perth Test. He was a little tired, he wasn’t as consistent, he didn’t do as well. But I feel with those overs on his shoulders now we’ll get the Pat Cummins that we know and love.
Mitchell Starc: He was really good in the first Test. Australia lost at the first. Starc was pretty good I think. He bowled fast. When he’s bowling mid 140s and he’s swinging the ball. I think that tells me Starc is in a really good spot and if he’s in a good spot he’s dangerous. He’s made a career of it.
Josh Hazlewood: Some people said he is kind of close to me. But he’s a little taller than me. His strength is being able to get down to the off stump line, kind of Glen McGrath. He’s a great one at knocking on the same spot repeatedly. And with that height he has that low bounce too.
Scott Boland: Scotty’s a real master of the pink ball. He’ll come in and thrash the Indian batters. He hits just right, just right length in Australian weather. He has that nip-backer, too. He’ll be a monster for the Indian batters.
Jasprit Bumrah: With that type of antics, he is a threat. But there are two more things too. Another very special aspect I think… just catching up with some of the commentary from that first Test and lots of batsmen were talking about the release point. His ending is a lot farther in the future.
“I don’t know, it could be 40 cm, a lot later than a bowler’s and that means the world. When he is tying the ball up, he is already almost to the front crease. You have this guy bowling the high 140s and he just is so good at driving the seam in and out, swinging it, that extra second of time, that just makes the batter cringe. Not just the one-of-a-kind movement, but also the point of exhalation.
Mohammed Siraj: I saw Siraj, he’s come on a lot. I’ve watched him over time. He’s been a quality Test match bowler for the last year. It’s a no-brainer that he’s hanging out and hanging out with Jasprit Bumrah.
Harshit Rana: He shocked me. He was quite sharp. He was a little faster than I thought he was. Not seen too much of him coming into that Test. And you know, not likely to take too many wickets in the second innings, but he played his part and he hammered the Aussies.
