Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, believes that Liverpool has a chance to win the Premier League and the Champions League tournament this season. Ferdinand’ opinion was given after the performance in the European and domestic tournaments was boosted by the Reds’ victory over the holders of the trophy, Real Madrid, at Anfield by a score of two to zero.

During a broadcast on TNT Sports, Rio Ferdinand expressed his views on Liverpool’s title challenges, focusing on their form. “Liverpool have thrown the gauntlet across the entire Europe to the other teams,” said Ferdinand.

“They are the in-form team.” This win over Real Madrid, along with their positive league shows, puts Liverpool in the driving seat early in the season.

Liverpool under the management of Arne Slot have been rampant both in Europe and in the domestic league. They are currently leaders of the premier league table sitting on 31 points, 8 points ahead of Manchester City who sit in the second position.

They have also managed to extend their dominating performances in Europe with a clean sheet in the group stages of the Champions League where they finished with 15 points after five games.

As one of the players who has tasted the triumph of winning silverware with United, Rio Ferdinand praised Slot for his managerial style and explained that facing Real Madrid’s quality level was a great measuring stick for the team.

“Should I make a wager on the team that looks most promising to win both the Premier League and the Champions League this season, I would say Liverpool,” he went on to state.

Ferdinand praised Liverpool at the beginning of this season, stressing that with such a confident coach and a fully-fit team, they are one of the most entertaining sides in Europe this campaign. With their current form, their Achilles’ prediction does not seem entirely far-fetched.
