Kohli will surely look forward to crossing the 9,000 run mark in Test cricket

Star India batter Virat Kohli will be eyeing records and will be keen when the first Test against Bangladesh approaches at Chennai so as to try to eclipse his peers Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson in the longest format whose form has been top class in the recent times.

The two-test series against Bangladesh is scheduled to start from September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The second Test will begin on September 27 in Kanpur. Gautam Gambhir will be stepping into his first assignment as a head coach and will be looking to win the series at least.

Virat Kohli misses the home series against England which he did earlier this year owing to the delivery of his second-born child. Feeling quite satisfied about his achievements within the short, however, stable span of ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, Virat Kohli accumulated 369 runs in four matches and six innings played at an average of 61.50 with one century and two fifties earned. The best of them was 121.

Virat Kohli will be targeting the 9,000 run mark in tests as there is only a distance of 152 runs left to be achieved. This will make him the only Indian cricketer to achieve the milestone. Batsman has played 113 test matches, hit the ball 8848 times in 191 innings faced and scored an average of 49.15, with the help of 29 hammers and 30 and moderately 254 hammers. He just needs 58 more runs to become the only cricketer to score 27000 international runs.

However, this series will be important for Virat Kohli as he has struggled quite badly in the middle east this year. This year, he has played 14 matches and scored 296 runs at a dismal average of 19.73 with the best half century in fifteen innings being the only ones this year. His highest score this year is 76.

After this series with Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma’s team will face New Zealand in three tests on tour to India starting from October 16, and then the Border-Gavaskar test series in Australia starting from November 22 which has built massive expectations among the people.
