McIntosh did manage to throw in a few attempts to come back, but Jangra’s speed was too much to handle for him so he hardly posed a decent challenge.

Indian professional boxer Mandeep Jangra has gone up in the ranks and now holds the World Boxing Federation’s super featherweight world title after defeating Conor McIntosh from the British Islands in the Cayman Islands.

Riding on the technical prowess imparted to him by his coach and former Olympic silver medalist Roy Jones Jr., the 31-year-old put up a near perfect display and won most of the rounds in the ring throughout the ten rounds. Mandeep Jangra who has managed to win most of his fights, sustained a lot of punches when he first came off the blocks and seemed to possess huge stamina remaining active throughout. McIntosh found it very difficult to keep up with Mandeep Jangra’s pace and was quite passive throughout the match although he tried to snap back into the game a few times.

Jangra is particularly enthusiastic about the win, noting, “It’s one of the best wins of my life. I appreciate my sponsors, Nash Built Construction, chief coach Roy Jones, assistant coach Asa Beard, and Angel. Wherever, I’ve worked so many years to reach this. It feels good to win and represent the country in this way.”

Jangra hails from Haryana and in 2021 retired as a novice, achieving great strides as a professional boxer in a short span of time. He would like to make the most of this opportunity in order to encourage other Indian combatants to follow this path. “I think this belt will enable a few other boxers in India to take up this career. Our boxers have great talent. If they get proper promoters and managers, they will too become world champions,” Jangra further stated.

With a record of 11 victories and 12 professional fights including 7 KOs, Jangra has carved out a successful career in such a short time. He has a reputable background as an amateur boxer with him achieving a silver medal during the Glasgow Commonwealth games in 2014 being one of his best achievements.
