On Tuesday, as many as five teams represented ACG Jr. NBA 3v3 City League in Bhubaneswar, the top three in both boys and girls categories, and one All-Star team from each boys and girls division for the national league finals.
The club concluded its City League finals in Bhubaneswar the ACG Jr. NBA program, a 3v3 tournament of the best 14 years and under basketball players of India, and the biggest school-based basketball program in the country. The national finals will happen early next calendar year in 2013.
In the U14 boys category, it was Amar Bharat Vidyapith, Sal Sports Academy and Riverdale World School-Mahasamund while champions of the U14 girls section were Army Public School, Delhi Public School- Rajnandgaon and Amar Bharat Vidyapith.
Ankita Gupta, Tileshwari Kanwar (both Delhi Public School Rajnandgaon), Anushka Mohanty and Navya Saishree Chhualsingh (both St Joseph School) were All Star U14 girls’ champions. The boys All Star winning team consisted of Sainath Behera of KV No. 1 School Cuttack, Abhilash Barla of Vikash – The Concept School Sasan Sambalpur, Sandesh Nayak and Adesh Nayak both of Krishnamurti World School.
Rumi Konwar of Delhi Public School (U-14 girls) and Amier Hembram of Amar Bharat Vidyapith Pomerol Boys (U-14 boys) received the awards for Most Valuable Players of the Bhubaneswar leg of the tournament thanks to their remarkable performance.
The Jr. NBA programme ise based on schools within the country and features’s and girls’s divisions. The pogramme is being done in Mumbai, Chennai, Aizawl, Delhi and Ludhiana.
There will be a league phase in each city where the last eight boys’ and girls’ teams representing that city will play. This will see the top three boys’ and girls’ teams and one All-Star team from each of the boys’ and girls divisions reaching the League finals early next year.
