India would have lost 5-0 to Australia without Bumrah

If fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah hadn’t appeared in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, says former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, India would have gotten 5-0 series loss instead of 3-1 home loss to Australia.

During 45 days of riveting cricket, Bumrah was among the players who dominated the battle against the WTC winners and haunted Australian legends in the five matches.

Bumrah was the series’ best bowler and put his name on the history books with record after record after record.

He threw in the towel with India’s record-breaking 295-run win in the series opener at Perth. Bumrah was still devastating in the remaining matches to finish off the series as the highest wicket-taker with 32 at a phenomenal average of 13.06.

Thankfully, Bumrah’s efforts got recognised at the end, and he was voted Player of the Series for his fireworks show.

While India lost the series, Bumrah was praised all around the world, and even Travis Head conceded it was the best “personal performance” that he has seen since he got into the format.

Harbhajan thanked Bumrah and said that the country would have lost the series 5-0 if the “national treasure” was not there.

“Without Jasprit Bumrah in this tour the series would have been 5-0. Jassi saved India in Perth.  He rescued India in the remaining matches after Adelaide. Without him in the series India would have lost either 5-0 or 4-0,” Harbhajan Singh wrote on his YouTube channel.

Bumah missed Australia’s second innings in the fifth Test match at Sydney because of a back spasm as the Australians won the match by six wickets and won the series.

Bumrah’s genius rescued India from 5-0 whitewash against Australia. Subscribe to Sports Monks for all the news!
