India vs New Zealand Highlights, 2nd Test Day 1: At the end of day 1, India stood at 16/1 and were trailing by 243 runs. India had Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill batting on 6* and 10*, actively securing the team’s position at 16/1 after 11 overs. Rohit Sharma was the only dismissal from the Indian team, trying to chase after 9 balls but returning to the pavilion without scoring a single run.
New Zealand began the innings and lost quite a few wickets but were able to score 259 runs overall and had their innings lasted for 79.1 overs. Washington Sundar performed excellently and managed to bowl out 7 players whereas the opponents were able to dominate the Till Sundar took down their advancement.
Washington Sundar then took over and in the second lap managed two over the last Gibbs,” followed by Daryl Mitchell with the second after tea. Others were Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, and Ajaz Patel, all of whom were knocked out.
In the second session, Ravindra was dismissed by Sundar for 65 runs off 105 balls after the ball hit the off stump. Devon Conway and Ravindra looked a little too comfortable in the first half an hour of the second session. This was so for a few minutes after that period, but Cay Conway got out thanks to an Ashwin delivery which was as harmless as can be. He made 76 off 141 balls.
Mitchell and Ravindra added 59 for the fourth wicket with the latter going beyond the 50 mark for 2 Tests in this series. At the very least the Kiwis were able to take run singles while the Indians were still very defensive in their fields.
Conway reached 51 runs by hitting a boundary on the very first ball that Jasprit Bumrah bowled in his second spell. The pacer had started with 4 overs at the back with Washington Sundar from the other end. After this Rohit Sharma introduced Ashwin to the Attack.
With Ashwin taking two wickets in the first session, at its end Sanjay Manjrekar claimed that New Zealand were perhaps the happier side in the two contesting on Day 1 of the second Test in Pune. New Zealand were 92/2 in 31 overs at the 92/2 in 31 overs at Lunch with Conway’s status at 47 runs from 108 balls. Ravindra at 5 runs from 13 balls.
In the second Test match at Pune between India and New Zealand, Ashwin did well to come back after a rather tough start as he took the wicket of visiting player Tom Latham with his first ball. Latham played a rather aggressive knock and lost his way with LBW off Ashwin’s first over spin on the eighth over’s fifth ball.
Latham earlier in the day had the chance to flip the coin and decided to bat first. India who seems to be in a disheveled state after a loss at home in the first test has seen quite a few changes in the line-up. Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep come in the set-up while KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj were swapped out.
