The U19 women’s cricket team from India replicated their championship success! Recently in Malaysia the Indian U19 women’s team succeeded in retaining their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title.
Their determination and confidence showed immediately and reached its peak when they defeated South Africa by nine wickets to secure the trophy spectacularly.
Team captain Niki Prasad evaluates the factors which led to their victory while back in their home country. I called together my team before the final match and told them we were going to dominate. The team celebrated their victory by holding the trophy as their captain reflected on their achievement with a smile.

Prasad also shares the powerful message she and her teammates learned along the way: The greatest lesson I learned is to always perform at your best regardless of your team. You deserve it just as much as your teammates. Cricket has taught us so much. The tournament had its fair share of ups and downs but we vowed to keep moving forward without letting fear of failure hold us back. We stuck together.”
Parunika Sisodia, the left-arm spinner, who finished as the tournament’s fourth highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets, agrees wholeheartedly: “Girls, never listen to what others say! Your self-belief will compel the world to recognize your determination and spirit.

Delhi’s Sisodia, aged 19, showed happiness at meeting her role model Mithali Raj who was a former captain of India’s women’s cricket team. Many of us considered Mithali Raj our role model when we initially began playing cricket according to Sisodia. She called us after the final to offer congratulations and words of encouragement for our future which made it an unforgettable moment.
Prasad explains to us that they danced in the dressing room to fully immerse themselves in their victory as she thinks about upcoming challenges. Signing off on an aspirational note, she adds: This was a memorable experience yet now we want to recreate this when representing our national team. There’s still more to achieve.”
