India-Pakistan Champions Trophy clash in Dubai on February 23

Indian cricket team is going to play their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which is the governing body of the tournament has decided to hold the match neutrally in UAE.

This weekend, Feb 23, Sunday, at Dubai International Stadium, the two vengeful South Asian rivals will battle it out.

The first big move made under the chairmanship of Jay Shah was that the ICC finally ended the hosting rights issue of Champions Trophy 2025 by deciding that the event will be held in Pakistan and a third neutral location. It is also settled for the hybrid system for all ICC tournaments in 2024-27 season which will be held in India or Pakistan.

This neutral venue of UAE came as a no-brainer, after the PCB chairperson Mohsin Naqvi met senior UAE cricket officials.

“PCB have decided to go with the UAE as an independent host for the Champions Trophy,” PCB spokeswoman Amir Mir added.

Bangladesh and New Zealand are India’s peers in the group other than Pakistan. The Indians will take on Bangladesh on 20 February and New Zealand on 2 March, all games likely to be in Dubai.

Debuting champions Pakistan will open the tournament in Karachi against New Zealand on February 19 while their last league match is against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on February 27.

The second will be Afghanistan, Australia, England and South Africa. The other matches, besides the Indian games will be played in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi.

The two semifinals will be on March 4 and March 5 — both without a reserve day, in the first semifinal. There is a reserve day also for the last, March 9.

First semi-final if India qualify would be held in UAE. Or else the match is going to Pakistan. Also the final is planned for Lahore with the possibility of the match being played in UAE should India reach that point of the tournament.
