ILT20: Pakistan stars Zaman, Amir shine as Desert Vipers beat Sharjah Warriorz

ILT20

After returning to winning form at ILT20 Season 3 the Desert Vipers dominated the Sharjah Warriorz match to win by ten wickets at Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday.

Through Fakhar Zaman’s 71 runs without loss and Mohammad Amir’s four wickets the Desert Vipers secured their top league position with a dominant 10-wicket victory.

With 91 runs all out on the board Desert Vipers raced through their chase when Alex Hales (23 not out from 21 balls) smashed boundaries at the start of their innings. During the 10th over Zaman hit well and his batting destroyed the Sharjah team’s attack.

The Desert Vipers started as batting team after winning the toss. The decision to bowl first worked perfectly for Amir because he dominated the matches with the new ball. Within four balls Johnson Charles revealed his plans when he hit a return shot off his legs straight to Dan Lawrence who caught it at deep backward square. After his first over Amir delivered two important dismissals by sending Fernando back to the dressing room.

Amir exposed the Sharjah Warriorz batting lineup because he knew how to handle the pitch effectively. Rohan Mustafa tried to play a delivery on the leg side but instead hit it toward Sam Curran who took an easy catch.

Desert Vipers history records Amirs 4/24 as their top bowling achievement. During ILT20 Wanindu Hasaranga delivered his 3/10 with the fewest runs taken per over.

When you start a match with fresh balls you aim to generate swing with your delivery. According to Amir you need to change your bowling style to match the pitch and target specific areas.

To succeed as a bowler you need to adjust your methods fast based on game conditions. We have got a great bowling unit.”
