Defensive Superstar Agrees New Deal With Chelsea, Hazard To Follow?

Right-back Cesar Azpilicueta has agreed on a new deal with Chelsea football club, which will now keep him at Stamford Bridge till 2022. The defensive superstar has been with the west London club, since he made the move to England back in 2012 and has won multiple titles with the club. He has been a leader at the back and has worked with Mourinho, Conte and is now working well with Maurizio Sarri.

However, the team right now needs him to stay and making him the skipper in Hazard’s presence was the right call. It could be one of the reasons why he has decided that he is still valued at the Bridge and should extend his stay.

There had been some rumors going around that the player was being linked with a move away from Chelsea, after the departure of former boss Antonio Conte. A host of top clubs wanted to sign him and were interested in his services, if he did indeed want to leave the club and move on with his career.

With that being said, the player has now put all rumors to rest by agreeing to this new deal and extending his stay at the club. He is one of the players who was expected to resign soon and the fans will now be hoping that Hazard can follow in his footsteps.

Upon signing the new deal, the full-back said, “I am really happy to extend my stay here at Chelsea. Since I came, I felt the joy and responsibility to play for this club, these fans, and every time I go on the pitch I try to do my best. Hopefully, there is a lot to come and we can keep Chelsea where it belongs.”

The Blues have been playing well this season and have suffered just one defeat in the current league campaign, which was in the recent game against Tottenham, where they were really poor. Apart from that, they have been performing really well, both in the league and the cup competitions as well.

Sarri will be hoping that his team continues to perform the way that they have been doing since the start of the season and win some titles in his debut campaign in England now. The penning down of the new deal by the Spaniard will be a huge boost for the morale of the team and the fans. Let’s see what happens next.
