The initial transfer window for the IPL 2020 auctions to be held in Kolkata on December 19 is now over. All the teams have retained and released players maintaining the core of the team. Like all the teams, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad also went through the process and have retained the core of the side.
Here’s is how both the teams look like after the initial transfer window.
Mumbai Indians (MI)
The four-time IPL champions have taken some tough calls ahead of the auctions in Kolkata. Yuvraj Singh was the biggest name among the players who were released in the trade window. Other names include Ben Cutting, Evin Lewis, Jason Behrendorff and Alzarri Joseph who took 6 for 12 in his debut match for the franchise.
Like all the teams, Mumbai have also retained the core of their side with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah being retained. All these five players have been crucial to Mumbai’s success in the past and will be the linchpin of the side going forward as well. The teams looks sorted with enough ammunition already. In the lead-up to the auctions, MI traded Kiwi pacer Trent Boult from Delhi Capitals and along with Malinga and Bumrah will form a formidable pace trio for the franchise. Boult’s entry has added more muscle to the already-strengthened bowling lineup of MI.
