Florida Gators running back Jadan Baugh faces a significant challenge this weekend. He must navigate a Georgia Bulldogs unit that ranks among the best run defenses nationally.
Inconsistent Recent Form
Baugh started the season as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate. He recorded over 100 rushing yards in each of his first four games. However, he struggled heavily during a recent loss to Missouri. The Tigers held the junior to just 13 yards on 12 carries. He then managed only 59 yards during a home defeat to South Carolina. Baugh recently bounced back with a stronger performance against Texas.
The Georgia Defensive Wall
Georgia has allowed the ninth-fewest rushing yards in the country this season. Opponents average just 2.8 yards per carry against the Bulldogs. This defensive front consistently creates problems for opposing offensive lines. Florida desperately needs a strong running game to support their passing attack.
Finding A Winning Blueprint
Georgia suffered a rare loss recently while allowing 192 rushing yards. Auburn running back Byrum Brown exploited gaps to gain 115 yards on 26 carries. Florida head coach Billy Napier will likely study that game tape closely. Baugh must replicate that success to give the Gators a chance at victory.
