Jaspal Rana, the Indian shooting great and revered coach has died aged 49 due to a cardiac complication. Rana had been hospitalised at Delhi’s Max Hospital with chest pain and discomfort which had initially surfaced during the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany. National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said doctors had conducted a stent procedure to remove blockage and it was subsequently reported that he was in good health but died on Thursday night.

Jaspal had, in fact, confused the chest ache for acidity and proceeded with his travel plans, said Subash Rana, his brother. But after he boarded the flight to India, his symptoms returned and he had to be rushed to hospital as soon as his flight landed in Delhi.
