5 domestic players who look to step up to Indian cricket team

 

The Indian cricket team is presently moving along at a swift pace. The whole team is fitter and more agile than before and with several tournaments coming up, the management will be eager to keep workloads balanced, particularly for senior players while also trying out new youngsters who can be the future of the team in times to come. There are several exciting young players in India’s domestic cricket arena who may look to step up to the senior cricket team and wear the coveted India cap at last.

5 Indian domestic players who could get a chance in Indian Team Soon

  1. Shubman Gill– The Punjab player had a big role to play in the Under-19 World Cup and has been scoring runs by heaps in the domestic cricket circuit and also for the India A team. Gill has an average of 77.3 in 9 first-class matches with 268 as his highest score. He has scored 1591 runs in only 39 List-A matches with an average crossing 30 in T20 matches as well. Gill is a regular fixture in the Indian Premier League (IPL) now and it is only a matter of time before he makes his way into the national team.
  2. Rahul Chahar- This player turns out for Rajasthan and caught the attention of the selectors during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, playing for Mumbai Indians who won the tournament. Chahar was one of the key men for his franchise and also got his first T20 break during the country’s West Indies tour. Chahar played 13 IPL games, taking 15 wickets at 6.77. Chahar has also taken 64 wickets in 16 first-class matches for Rajasthan with 28.34 as his average.
  3. Ishan Kishan- This Jharkhand domestic player is a talented wicket-keeper and batsman and could be a natural replacement to MS Dhoni in the future, although he will have to compete with Rishabh Pant. Ishan Kishan captained India at the 2015 Under-19 World Cup and has a successful journey with Mumbai Indians in the IPL (Indian Premier League) to his credit. Kishan has played well for the A-team as well, recently hitting 55 off 24 balls to help India clamber to victory.
  4. Navdeep Saini- Navdeep Saini recently had an amazing T20 debut for India against the West Indies at the match held in Florida. He picked up 3/17 in four overs, becoming the man of the match. His crucial wickets including two in a single over, helped India breeze past the West Indies with elan. Saini has already played domestic cricket and IPL (Indian Premier League) extensively and bowls really fast at 145-150 kmph which has earned him the praise of none other than Bhuvneshwar Kumar and his captain Virat Kohli. In the IPL 2019, Saini touched 150 kmph easily which left many astounded. He plays for RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) and the Delhi Ranji team. He was the net bowler for India at the 2019 ICC World Cup along with being cover for Bhuvneshwar Kumar as well.
  5. Akshay Wakhare- Akshay Wakhare shot into the spotlight sometime earlier and recently picked up a wonderful 5/13 in the Duleep Trophy final to win the title for India Red against India Green. He has been backed as an aspirant for the Indian Test team by none other than legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh who believes that Wakhare has performed excellently for Vidarbha over the last 2 years with consecutive Ranji Trophy championship wins. Wakhare has played for Central Zone as well with 75 matches under his belt and 263 wickets. The economy rate is just 2.72 as well.
