In a nail-biting contest in the Women’s T20 World Cup, the Women of West Indices displayed their bowling skills and batting power as they made light work of Bangladesh winning the match by eight wickets.

Of late, the most outstanding player for West Indices has been an off spinner by the name of Karishma Ramharack who rocked with the bowling attack claiming 4 wickets at the expense of170 and ensured Bangladesh was contained to a low score of 103 for 8 wickets loss at the end of 20 overs.

Bangladesh’s first match was a shocking one for the team where they lost their opener Shathi Rani scoring just 9 runs who was stumped by a West Indies’ wicketkeeper. Trouble lurked for the sunrisers as Ramharack once again hunted down Dilara Akter for 19 runs with the ball. For a while, it was up to Shobana Mostary as the number 3 batter. Mostary herself scored only 16, it was Mostary who assisted in a 40-run stand with Nigar Sultana, who was the best scorer for Bangladesh with 39 runs from 44 deliveries.

However, you cannot take it easy if you’re in a winning match due to the pressure mounted by the West Indies’ bowlers and provided the barton become irritatingly rampant and Ramharack still in the sight of the firing Armies took adoring Mostary run out in the 13th overs after swaying of batters. After this dismissal, Mostary was headed the Bangladesh innings came to an abrupt end as the team was always under pressure against a very well-disciplined bowling attack from the West Indies.

Afy Fletcher, the reason for bangladesh and the capitals was among them, claiming 2 wickets for 25 runs. There were four boundaries from Nigar Sultana which were also the only positive performances in the team but the next bats?’ It is reasonable to say before the onset of if this was Ashwan who sank her batsmen then Bangladesh was trudging below the beacon height against a scary West Indies batting order.

In response, the West Indies were unstoppable at chasing down that target. The captain Hayley Matthews was swift in pursuing the target, making a quick 34 runs from 22 balls that included 6 fours. Matthews and Stafanie Taylor put up a solid stand sharing a 52 run opening partnership before Matthews was bowled in the eighth over. Taylor scored 27 runs off 29 balls hitting 3 fours before she was injured and unfortunately needed to leave the field but it did not stop the run rate of the team.

Shemaine Campbelle did her part getting 21 runs from 16 balls and Deandra Dottin finished the game with 19 runs not out coming from 7 balls which also included 2 sixes.

The West Indies come victorious and finish the chase scoring 104against 2 wickets within 12.5 overs which brings about the team hopes of reaching the semifinals a step closer.

With this win, the West Indies have moved to the top of Group B with two victories in three matches. However, they may still have to take another in their final group match against England to ensure their qualification for the semis.

England will meet Scotland in the meantime, with one game left and then play the West Indies adding an extra dimension to the tournament. South Africa who are second in the grouping will be hoping to secure a victory over Bangladesh in their last game in order to qualify as well.

Next, tournament hosts, Bangladesh, suffered another defeat which proved to be the third in a row and this put the home country in a rather awkward position as they were looking to regroup and also ponder on their tournament performances.

Now in a high-pressure situation with no easy matches, the next matches are expected to be action-oriented in cricket with all teams fighting for a spot at the finals or at the least the semifinals for the Women’s T20 World Cup.
