The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the schedule for the 2027 men’s and women’s Ashes series, with Southampton’s Utilita Bowl set to host a men’s Ashes Test for the first time. The two series will once again run concurrently, following the successful format introduced in 2023.
Southampton to Make Ashes History
For the first time, Southampton’s Utilita Bowl (Rose Bowl) will stage a men’s Ashes Test when the fourth Test begins on July 21, 2027.
The venue previously hosted Test matches during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 against Pakistan and was also the venue for the 2021 ICC World Test Championship Final, where New Zealand defeated India.
Men’s Ashes Series Schedule
The five-match Ashes series between England and Australia will be played as follows:
- 1st Test: June 18–22 – Trent Bridge
- 2nd Test: June 30–July 4 – Lord’s
- 3rd Test: July 8–12 – Edgbaston
- 4th Test: July 21–25 – Southampton (Utilita Bowl)
- 5th Test: July 29–August 2 – The Oval, London
Women’s Ashes Schedule
The multi-format Women’s Ashes series will begin with a one-off Test before moving into T20Is and ODIs.

Packed Summer of Cricket
England’s 2027 home season will also feature:
- Five-match ODI series against Pakistan beginning May 15 in Southampton.
- One-off Test against Bangladesh at Lord’s starting May 28, marking Bangladesh’s first Test in England since 2010.
- Five-match ODI series against New Zealand later in the summer.
- England Men’s Mixed Disability team hosting Australia.
- The ICC World Test Championship Final at The Oval beginning June 9.
ECB Highlights Historic Summer
ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould said the simultaneous men’s and women’s Ashes series will once again provide exciting cricket after the success of the 2023 edition.
He also noted that:
- Southampton will host its first-ever men’s Ashes Test.
- Headingley will stage its first Women’s Ashes Test since 2001.
World Test Championship Final Returns to The Oval
The Oval will once again host the ICC World Test Championship Final on June 9, 2027.
The ICC has confirmed that England will also stage the finals in 2029 and 2031, following the success of previous editions.
ECB Managing Director of Competitions and Major Events Neil Snowball said the board was honoured to continue hosting cricket’s premier Test championship event.
Test Cricket Celebrates 150 Years
The 2027 season will also mark the 150th anniversary of Test cricket, adding extra significance to an action-packed international calendar featuring the Ashes, the World Test Championship Final, and several major bilateral series.
