Scoring in the derby meant a lot – it’s great to be back,’ says Tom Hill

Tom Hill couldn’t hide his joy after finding the back of the net in Liverpool U21s’ 4-0 victory over Everton in Premier League 2, marking his return with a goal.

Having missed the entire pre-season due to a persistent injury concern, the Formby-born midfielder has put in significant effort to regain his match fitness.

Introduced as a substitute by Barry Lewtas on Monday evening, Hill displayed excellent teamwork with Bobby Clark before elegantly slotting the ball into the goal with a curling shot.

For the 20-year-old, this goal holds immense significance.

“Undoubtedly, I’ve faced quite a challenging period, so to come back in a derby match and score a goal, it carries immense meaning for me. It feels fantastic to be back,” Hill shared with Liverpoolfc.com.

“With several new faces in the squad, everyone has integrated seamlessly and it’s easy to find your place in this team. We stuck together, adhered to our game plan, and didn’t allow Everton many opportunities, which is always positive. We executed our strategy effectively.”

He added, “We could have easily converted more than the four goals we scored. In the first half, we had numerous chances to seal the match, but thankfully, we didn’t lose hope. We maintained our momentum and capitalized on our opportunities.”
