Sanju Samson Hits T20I Milestone as India Are Bowled Out by West Indies

Sanju Samson Equals T20I Sixes Record

Sanju Samson achieved a significant milestone in T20 International cricket during India’s fourth T20I against the West Indies in Hyderabad on October 14, 2026.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter smashed 56 runs off just 23 balls in an aggressive batting display.

His innings featured six fours and four sixes, highlighting his ability to score quickly under pressure.

Samson became the sixth Indian batter to reach 100 sixes in T20 International cricket.

However, his impressive contribution was not enough to prevent India from suffering a 24-run defeat.

Samson Enters an Elite Group of Indian Batters

Samson joined Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma in the group of Indian batters who have hit at least 100 sixes in T20 Internationals.

Rohit Sharma leads the Indian list with 205 sixes, followed by Suryakumar Yadav with 179, Abhishek Sharma with 141, Hardik Pandya with 126 and Virat Kohli with 124.

Samson also reached his half-century in just 20 balls, equalling his personal best for the fastest T20I fifty.

His performance became a major talking point despite India’s disappointing result.

Shai Hope Leads West Indies with a Century

Earlier in the match, West Indies captain Shai Hope delivered an outstanding batting performance to put his team in a commanding position.

Hope scored an unbeaten 102 off 50 balls, becoming the first West Indies batter to register three centuries in T20 International cricket.

Sherfane Rutherford provided valuable support with an unbeaten 49 off 26 deliveries as the visitors posted an imposing total of 247 for three.

India struggled to contain the West Indies batting attack, leaving themselves with a challenging target of 248 runs.

Keemo Paul then claimed five wickets for 41 runs to help secure victory for the visitors.

India-West Indies T20I Series Heads Towards a Decider

India were eventually bowled out for 223, handing West Indies a 24-run victory in the fourth T20I.

The result levelled the five-match series at 2-2, setting up an important final encounter between the two sides.

While Samson’s record-breaking innings provided India with an individual highlight, the team could not complete the chase against a disciplined West Indies bowling attack.

West Indies will look to carry the momentum from Hope’s century and Paul’s five-wicket haul into the deciding match.

India, meanwhile, will aim to regroup and deliver a stronger all-round performance in the final game.
