The Border-Gavaskar series featuring India and Australia, which is highly anticipated and loved by fans, will start on November 22 with the first test being held in Perth.
Looking ahead to the Border–Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma has said that he is “not overly certain” whether he will play in the Perth Test.
Prior to the BGT series with Australia, India led by Rohit Sharma was thrashed 0-3 by New Zealand in their home series, losing even , the third ODI.
There were also rumors that India’s captain Rohit Sharma would not travel for the first test match of the much-hyped BGT series against Australia.
After the third test of the series with New Zealand, Rohit Sharma also expressed uncertainty about participating in the Perth Test.
“At this stage, I don’t even know if I’ll be going, but we will see. I hope so,” Rohit Sharma spoke in the post-match press conference.
12 Test matches and 22 innings against Australia included 208 runs by Rohit at a strike rate of 52.17. In the long format, he scored 1 century and 3 fifties against Australia.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been long overdue with many cricket fans waiting for it and the series is set to begin from November 22 when the first test would be held at Perth.
The ongoing rivalry between the two nations has enjoyed the seeing India come out on top lately. India has won its previous four series against Australia in a row including two in Australia during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons.
As a result, this makes it all the more impressive that Australia engaged in the series 10 times despite losing out to India in the Border-Gavaskar trophy in 2015. India has had more of an upper hand as they have won the BGT 10 times and Australia 5 times the last being the 2014-15 season. Meanwhile Australia’s last series win on Indian soil was back in 2004-05.
The excitement continues as the second test of the series is set to begin on December 6, and fans are in for a treat as the day-night test is scheduled to take place. From that moment onwards supporters of both teams will shift their focus over to The Gabba in Brisbane, where the third Test will occur between the 14th and the 18th of December.
Set for December 26 to 30, the Boxing Day Test is one of the most anticipated fixtures in the history of this series due to the fact that history will be made regardless of the result as this will be the series penultimate fixture.
