Winger Diego Moreira, a summer addition to Chelsea, reminisced about the excitement of making his Premier League 2 debut against Blackburn Rovers last Friday. He shared his insights into the experience and discussed his aspirations within the Chelsea Under-21s team.
During our 6-1 triumph over Blackburn, Moreira entered the field as a second-half substitute, showcasing his skills with deft touches and effective combination play during his cameo appearance. Despite leaving a positive impression, Moreira is determined to maintain his momentum and continue displaying his capabilities.
“I’ve had the chance to train and play alongside the senior team, observing their training methods and match approach,” Moreira stated. “Their wealth of experience explains their excellence. My aim is to apply some of those practices to elevate my game.”
He further explained, “I’ve gained valuable insights from all the players. Valuable tips can be picked up from anyone, regardless of their position. However, I find Raheem Sterling particularly inspiring. I admire his playing style.”
Adjusting to life in a new club and country can be a challenge, but Moreira has successfully settled into London life. He attributed his smooth transition to the support of the team and the club.
“I’m grateful to the team and the club for making me feel at home. They’ve all contributed to my comfort. When I joined, the team welcomed me warmly. Even in my first game, despite not scoring, our communication was great.”
“While stepping into a new environment, I’ve felt the physicality and intensity. Nevertheless, I’m up for the challenge as I embrace new obstacles every day,” Moreira shared confidently.
Following his debut, when asked about his goals for the season, Diego expressed his aspirations as a footballer.
“I have ambitious targets and substantial aspirations. Coach Mark Robinson has already offered me valuable advice, and I’m eager to build on that relationship. Under his guidance and beyond, I want to reach my maximum potential.”
“I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming matches and the contributions I can make to the team,” Moreira concluded with enthusiasm.
