Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have both emerged as contenders for the coveted PFA Young Player of the Year Award.
Our dynamic attacking pair has earned nominations for this prestigious accolade, a recognition that holds special value as it’s voted upon by their peers on the field.
Bukayo Saka’s luminous season in the iconic red and white jersey once again dazzled, as he amassed an impressive tally of 15 goals and 11 assists throughout the Premier League campaign. This remarkable performance played a significant role in our spirited pursuit of the league title. Notably, this marks the fourth consecutive nomination for our Hale End graduate, who is simultaneously vying for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year honor.
Gabriel Martinelli, too, showcased his remarkable talent by notching 15 goals, a stark contrast from his previous campaign’s tally of 6 in the 21/22 season. In a season of breakout success, the Brazilian winger provided invaluable support to his teammates through five assists, alongside boasting one of the league’s most remarkable dribble rates.
If either Saka or Martinelli claims the PFA Young Player of the Year distinction, they will join the ranks of esteemed Arsenal players such as Leah Williamson in 2015 and Jack Wilshere in 2011, who have previously clinched this honor.
The eagerly anticipated announcement of the winner is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, during the PFA’s commemorative 50th anniversary awards ceremony.
