Liverpool Conclude Pre-Season with Triumph at Deepdale against SV Darmstadt 98

Liverpool wrapped up their pre-season preparations on a triumphant note, securing a 3-1 victory against German side SV Darmstadt 98 at Deepdale Stadium on Monday evening.

The match commenced with an explosive start, witnessing three goals within the opening 10 minutes of play.

In the fifth minute, Mohamed Salah opened the scoring by expertly converting a corner kick from close range, capitalizing on a flick-on by Virgil van Dijk.

Merely 180 seconds later, Liverpool extended their lead as Salah turned provider, delivering the ball into the opposition’s box, allowing Diogo Jota to elegantly slot it into the net with his right boot.

SV Darmstadt 98 responded swiftly, narrowing the gap, as Mathias Honsak found the bottom corner of Alisson Becker’s goal.

As the game found its rhythm, both sides exchanged opportunities. Christoph Zimmermann’s attempt inside the box went wide, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo saw their long-range shots saved.

Gakpo came close again, striking the side-netting after capitalizing on a clearance by goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen.

Liverpool pursued a third goal before halftime, but Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister were unfortunate to see their chances miss the target.

Following the halftime break, Alisson was called into action, thwarting Darmstadt’s attempt to level the score. Marvin Mehlem and Fabian Schnellhardt combined in the attacking third, only to be denied by the quick reactions of Liverpool’s goalkeeper.

However, it was Liverpool who extended their lead to two goals in the 60th minute. Szoboszlai’s precise corner met the run of Diaz, who executed a brilliant flick to secure Liverpool’s third goal of the evening.

Diaz remained influential, maneuvering into the area with skill, but substitute Darwin Nunez’s shot was saved.

Ben Doak’s entrance injected Liverpool with added attacking prowess on the right flank, offering a dynamic approach in the final moments.

Late in the game, Doak’s intelligent run into the six-yard box was thwarted at the last instant. The final exchanges saw Nunez and Joe Gomez’s efforts cleared off the line, concluding the match with the scoreline unchanged
