Ali Al Marzouqi, the Executive Director of the UAE Fencing Federation, emphasized the significance of the fencing championship at the 11th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament as a crucial platform for the development of UAE’s fencers. Held annually during the holy month of Ramadan at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, this tournament attracts over 125 fencers from across the globe.

Participants from 14 nations, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Hungary, Estonia, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Iran, Tunisia, Iraq, and the UAE, showcase their skills in four categories: epee and foil for international men, sabre for Arab men, and an epee competition for girls and women born in the UAE.

Al Marzouqi highlighted the significance of this competition as a preparatory ground for the UAE youth team, gearing up for the FIE World Cup in Saudi Arabia post Eid-Al-Fitr. He underscored the importance of the tournament within the local sporting events agenda of the fencing federation, given its artistic, media, and public impact across all sports.

The NAS Sports Tournament, renowned as the largest sports event during Ramadan, embodies the theme of ‘Limitless Possibilities’ and runs until March 31. This year’s edition features nine sports, including volleyball, padel, jiu-jitsu, wheelchair basketball, running race, cycling race, tug-of-war, and obstacle challenge.

Al Marzouqi expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, in making the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament a resounding success. He emphasized the tournament’s role in fostering positive energy and happiness among all members of society, citing its significant impact on both sporting and humanitarian fronts.
