India Sri Lanka Head to Head in World Cup
Both teams have faced off 8 times against each other with Sri Lanka winning four games and India winning three. One match was a no-result. So pretty evenly balanced in this case.
Team India Advantages
Team India have several advantages. Their bowling unit looks strong with Jasprit Bumrah and either Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Mohammad Shami early on followed by Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar who have both done well. Then there is Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who are the top draws in the middle overs. Both Pandya and Shankar lend balance to the batting lineup as well along with Kedar Jadhav who is also handy with the ball. MS Dhoni is of course a rock for the team while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are in red-hot form at the moment. KL Rahul has also impressed at the top of the order.
Team Sri Lanka Advantages
Team Sri Lanka can count on the experience of the wily Lasith Malinga, arguably the world’s best bowler in his prime at the death. Additionally, they have Angelo Matthews, one of the finest all-rounders for his team and Thisara Perera who have ample experience of playing against the Indian team. Dimuth Karunaratne is a good bet and so is Kusal Perera in the batting department. Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep and Lahiru Thirimanne are also good bowlers on their day. Kusal Mendis is another strong player that Sri Lanka can rely on.
Battles to watch out for
Rohit Sharma vs. Lasith Malinga – Sri Lanka’s senior pace pro will be locking horns with his Mumbai team-mate Rohit Sharma in this big duel. Sharma will naturally want to showcase his flair while Malinga will be looking to get his wicket early on.

Hardik Pandya vs. Angelo Matthews – Both premier all-rounders will ply their skills against each other. Both will be looking to outdo each other with bat and ball, making it a riveting affair.
Dimuth Karunaratne vs. Jasprit Bumrah – Bumrah is known for his menacing bowling and Karunaratne will look to deny him his wicket while continuing his fluent run scoring at the same time.
Thisara Perera vs. Vijay Shankar – If both of them play for their teams, Perera will lock horns against Shankar in both batting and bowling departments. This will be a gripping battle for sure!
