India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retires from international cricket immediately after third Test against Australia in Brisbane on Wednesday.

The sleight of hand off-spinner gets 537 from 106 tests which is second in the Indian record behind Anil Kumble’s 619.

Ashwin didn’t get a chance to play in the series-opener in Perth, but made a return to the side for the day-night second test in Adelaide, and picked up one wicket. That contest would become his last, he was dropped from Brisbane.

“Today will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all the formats of the international circuit,” the 38-year-old told reporters at the Gabba.

‘I think there is still some punch in me as a cricketer, but I want to play that in club cricket.

I had so much fun. “Yes, I remember making lots of memories with Rohit (Sharma) and some of my other teammates,” he added with the India captain at his side.

Ashwin also played 116 One-Dayers and 65 T20I’s and is in possession of 765 wickets across all formats.

Match-winner on India’s flat surface, Ashwin also flourished as a decent test all-rounder with six hundreds in the format.
