As we step into August, competitive football will soon be in full swing for Manchester United in the 2023/24 season. Erik ten Hag’s side concluded their preparations during Tour 2023 in the United States last week, getting ready for the upcoming Premier League campaign that starts in less than two weeks.
Before the Premier League commences, there are two remaining pre-season matches for our men’s team. In addition, August’s schedule includes a mix of friendly and competitive matches for the club’s Academy sides.
While United Women’s season won’t begin until October, some of Marc Skinner’s players are currently participating in the ongoing World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and we’ll closely follow their progress as the tournament enters its knockout phase this month.
With all these exciting events on the horizon, here are some key dates to mark in your calendar:
PRE-SEASON DOUBLE-HEADER
5/6 AUGUST
United will play their final two summer friendlies on consecutive days, just like last year. On Saturday, Ten Hag’s Reds will face French top-flight club RC Lens at Old Trafford (12:45 BST). The game holds special significance for Raphael Varane, who began his professional football journey with Lens. The following day, United will meet La Liga side Athletic Club in Dublin (16:00 BST). Tickets for the Dublin match are sold out, but there are still limited tickets available for the game at Old Trafford. Both matches will also be streamed on MUTV, providing fans with a last chance to watch the Reds in action before the new campaign commences
