The golf stars of tomorrow aligned amid rocking peaks and shimmering sun as the Emirates Golf Federation was given the honour for the hosting rights of the event, which saw three days of breathtaking competition, fortitude and blossoming talent at Dubai’s scenic Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club between March 17-19.
Considered the flagship event of the Infinity Junior Golf Tour, the championship further confirmed its rising status as one of the most exciting venues for junior golfers in the region. Having been a key feature on the calendar previously under different guises, this year’s iteration was an international tournament set up over a 6,700-yard test that challenged not just technical ability but also temperament and composure.
Given that the event counted toward the World Amateur Golf Ranking (known as WAGR), competition was fierce and performances impressive. In all classes, the junior stepped up to the plate, showing incredible maturity, focus and a real passion for the game that represents the future of champions on us.
The event has a unique significance with it being inspired by the legacy of The Masters Tournament. With the world’s most storied Major just weeks away in Augusta, the Infinity Juniors International Masters embodies its spirit of excellence, honour and tradition for fledgling players who will one day take on the world’s mightiest fields.
Despite recent adversity and turmoil, the tournament had an impressive turnout, as hope and determination prevailed all weekend long. Led by a spirit of positivity and togetherness, showcasing how sport can inspire and unite communities.
As each group of rising stars donned their respective jackets, the Green Jacket Ceremony is one to be remembered for standout performances. It was however Mousa Shana’ah who emerged victorious in the 15–18 Boys category, while Liu Ye had his hand raised as champion of the 12–14 Boys division.
Samaria Choudry showed her class by winning the 12–14 Girls title whilst Eugenio Galeppini and Isabelle Zhang rounded out the features by taking the 10–11 Boys and Girls divisions. In the younger divisions, Yuvraj Bhatia and Chloe Zhang won their 9 & Under divisions with talent far beyond their years.
If the winners took centre stage, the tournament was as much about participation and development as it was about trophies. Each competitor truly exemplified the gentleman and lady’s game of golf, discipline, integrity and respect for one another — reminding everyone that this event was larger than just trophies and titles.
Having events like the Infinity Juniors International Masters is vital for the growth of the game. They offer younger athletes invaluable insight into competitive environments, enabling them to develop confidence, resilience and a sound mental construct. They are not only an end in and of themselves, but they also provide a base for development in the long-term sense by developing that talent at the grassroots level and establishing routes for players to go on to regional or world-wide levels.
With a sharp focus on cementing itself as the region’s premier junior golf tournament, the Infinity Juniors International Masters keeps heading from strength to strength. Its emphasis on player development will ensure it continues to be a pillar of junior golf in the UAE long into the future.
The organisers expressed gratitude towards Emirates Golf Federation for their ‘continuous support and guidance for the growth of Infinity Junior Golf Tour.
