Dubai Basketball continued their impressive start to the new EuroLeague season with a second consecutive victory at Coca-Cola Arena, defeating Spanish giants Barcelona 94-87 on Tuesday.
The win came just days after Dubai Basketball recorded a thrilling 78-77 victory over Real Madrid, giving the UAE’s first professional basketball club two memorable wins against two of Europe’s biggest teams.
Dubai Basketball Defeat Barcelona
Backed by a passionate home crowd, Dubai Basketball produced another outstanding performance to overcome Barcelona.
The visitors led 25-23 at the end of the first quarter, but Dubai Basketball responded strongly in the second period. The home side went into half-time with a commanding 52-37 lead.
Barcelona fought back in the third quarter and reduced the deficit, but Dubai Basketball remained composed during the final period to secure an impressive 94-87 victory.
Kabengele Leads Dubai Basketball
Mfiondu Kabengele delivered one of his best performances in a Dubai Basketball jersey, finishing with 21 points and six rebounds.
McKinley Wright and Dwayne Bacon also played key roles, scoring 14 points each as Dubai Basketball held off the challenge from one of Europe’s most successful basketball clubs.
The victory highlighted the team’s ability to combine strong attacking play with disciplined defence and resilience under pressure.
Two Wins to Start EuroLeague Campaign
Dubai Basketball now have two wins from their opening two EuroLeague matches, following their dramatic victory over Real Madrid on September 24.
The back-to-back victories mark an impressive start for the UAE club as they look to build on their historic ABA League triumph last season.
Dubai Basketball head coach Xavi Pascual praised his players and the supporters at Coca-Cola Arena after the victory.
Pascual said the game changed after Barcelona produced a strong run in the third quarter, but his team remained in control of the score and managed to secure an important win.
The coach also thanked the home fans for creating an atmosphere that helped the team during another memorable night of EuroLeague action in Dubai.
