Frida Maanum showcases her skills during an Arsenal warm-up on the final day of the 22/23 season
The impressive strides made by Frida Maanum in the club’s recent season have earned her a spot as a contender for the esteemed PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
In a remarkable achievement, Maanum secures her first-ever nomination for this prestigious accolade, having previously been recognized as a nominee for Young Player of the Year in the preceding season.
At the age of 23, our talented midfielder, who will soon rejoin the squad after representing Norway at the Women’s World Cup, showcased an outstanding performance with a tally of nine goals and four assists during just her second Women’s Super League campaign.
Beyond her collective contributions to the team’s success, Maanum’s exceptional individual displays garnered her several notable recognitions. She was awarded Arsenal Women’s Player of the Month on two occasions in the past season. Additionally, her superb strike against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final earned her the second spot in our Goal of the Month poll for March. Notably, she also made the shortlist for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Season earlier this summer.
Maanum is part of a quartet of Gunners who have been nominated for this year’s PFA awards. The men’s Player of the Year category features contenders Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. Saka, along with Gabriel Martinelli, is also in the running for the Young Player of the Year award.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the winners at the PFA’s 50th anniversary awards ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, August 29.
