Arsenal’s Frida Maanum has earned a well-deserved place in the prestigious PFA Women’s Super League Team of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign. Maanum joins another former Arsenal player, Rafaelle Souza, in this distinguished lineup.

In her second season in the WSL, Norwegian midfielder Frida Maanum demonstrated her exceptional talent, tallying an impressive nine goals and four assists. Her standout performances were crucial to Arsenal’s remarkable journey to the Women’s Champions League semi-finals and their triumph in the Continental Tyres Cup. Throughout the season, she made 38 appearances across all competitions, contributing 16 goals to the team’s success.

Frida’s remarkable season didn’t go unnoticed, as she received numerous individual accolades. She earned the title of Arsenal’s Player of the Month twice during the campaign and was nominated for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Season award.

On the other hand, Rafaelle Souza, who also made the PFA WSL Team of the Year, made 30 appearances for Arsenal last season, with 16 of them in the Women’s Super League. While she netted two goals during her time with Arsenal, she has since moved on to join the US-based Orlando Pride.

This exceptional team also featured six players from the Manchester clubs, with Mary Earps as the goalkeeper, and Ona Batlle, Maya Le Tissier, and Alex Greenwood forming the defense. The lineup also includes Yui Hasegawa and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw. Chelsea’s Sam Kerr and Guro Reiten, along with Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly, complete the impressive XI.
