Four Indian women wrestlers win U-17 titles

Every wrestler displayed exceptional skill and control, easily securing wins and solidifying their positions as top contenders.

Amman: Indian women wrestlers shone brightly at the Under-17 World Championships, clinching four gold medals on Thursday. Aditi Kumari, Neha, Pulkit, and Mansi Lather were all victorious in their respective weight divisions, showcasing remarkable skill and control. Furthermore, there are at least two Indian women wrestlers still in the running for gold medals, indicating further potential success for the team. The successes demonstrate the increasing power of Indian women wrestling worldwide and showcase a bright future for the young athletes.

Aditi Kumari (43kg), Neha (57kg), Pulkit (65kg), and Mansi Lather (73kg) all effortlessly secured world titles in their respective weight classes at the Under-17 World Championships. Their strong showings showcased their abilities and readiness. Furthermore, Kajal (69kg) and Shrutika Shivaji Patil (46kg) have made it to the finals and will vie for gold medals on Friday, adding to India’s impressive performance at the competition.

Raj Bala (40kg) is getting ready for the bronze play-off, which could help India win more medals. In the meantime, Muskan (53kg) and Rajnita (61kg) are both still contenders for podium placements as they have progressed to the repechage round, which offers them another chance to secure medal positions.

India is assured victory in the women’s team trophy at the Under-17 World Championships, despite not having a participant in the 49kg weight category. Aditi Kumari is the Indian women wrestler who secured victory in the 43kg division, displaying a strong performance as she beat Maria Louiza Gkika of Greece 7-0 in the championship match. This win, combined with impressive showings in other events.

In the 57kg championship match, Neha, Indian women wrestler demonstrated her outstanding abilities by dominating Japan’s So Tsuitsui. Her impressive double-leg takedowns completely controlled the match, giving her opponent minimal chances. Neha’s dominant display resulted in her winning the gold medal after a clear victory in the last match.

During the 65kg final, Indian women wrestler Pulkit triumphed over Daria Frolova, a neutral athlete, with a 6-3 win. Pulkit’s well-deserved victory was a result of his strategic and determined performance, highlighting his talent and perseverance in securing the gold medal in a closely fought competition on the mat.

She initially had a 5-0 lead, but later in the match, she gave up a pushout point and a caution. These mistakes enabled Frolova to narrow the margin and earn three points, increasing the competitiveness of the match. Even though she faced a last-minute challenge, she was still able to clinch the win with a final score of 6-3.

During the last seconds of the game, Frolova tried valiantly to clinch the victory, but Pulkit’s defensive abilities were able to hold her off. With only 20 seconds left, Pulkit stood strong and successfully fended off Frolova’s attacks, ultimately securing the title with a 6-3 win.

In the final match of the 73 kg weight class, Lather quickly gained a strong lead of 5-0 against Hanna Pirskaya. Showing extraordinary expertise and tactics, Lather then performed a bold move to immobilize Pirskaya, concluding the match with a striking conclusion. Lather’s impressive victory resulted in the gold medal being secured in dominant fashion.

India also succeeded in the Greco-Roman style, earning two bronze medals. Ronak Dahiya and Sainath Pardhi (51kg) both secured a place on the podium through impressive showings during the competition. Their success contributed to India’s total medal count and showcased the nation’s diverse range of wrestling techniques.
