Basketball World Cup FIBA 2019
The FIBA Basketball World Cup is an international basketball competition and is considered to be the flagship event of FIBA. It is contested by the senior men’s national teams of the members of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the sport’s global governing body. It shares its structure largely with that of the FIFA World Cup, though there are some differences. When it comes to men’s national basketball teams, the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup was the 18th tournament. Hosted in China, the tournament was rescheduled from 2018 to 2019, and this was the first time since 1967 in the history of the tournament that it did not coincide with the FIFA World Cup. Over the years, the tournament has expanded from 24 to 32 teams.

Format of FIBA 2019 Basketball World Cup:
The continental championships no longer fall under the purview of the World Cup’s qualification system. On the other hand, two rounds of continental qualifying tournaments were held over two years in a home-and-away format. The maiden round of the qualifiers was conducted in late 2017 and early 2018. The Americas, Asia/Oceania and Africa qualifiers featured 16 teams each, while Europe had 32 teams. Division A teams were categorized under four groups, which will be held in a home-and-away round-robin. The top three in each groups advanced to round two, and last placed teams played the best Division B teams to qualify for the next season’s Division A. Round two, held in late 2018 and early 2019, had teams being split in groups of six. Thus, there were a total of 4 groups if Europe and 2 in the other qualifiers. The points from round one were carried over, and teams had to face another three teams again in a home-and-away round-robin. Ever since 2019, there were no wild card qualifications. Unlike previous times, the Olympic champions no longer directly qualify to the World Cup. On 7th May 2017 in Guangzhou, China, the draw for the qualifiers was held.

There were many teams who wanted to win the FIBA World Cup 2019 but Spain won the title for the 2nd time. (Spain won this title first time in year 2006 in Japan), Argentina (Runners up), France Remains on 3rd Place and Australia Remains on 4th Position.
