Following a goalless draw in regular time and extra-time, England faced the challenge of being down to ten players when Lauren James received a red card in the 87th minute.
Bethany England entered the game during extra-time and played a pivotal role in both defense and offense, effectively thwarting Nigeria’s attacks while also contributing pressure in the attacking third.
The penalty shootout unfolded with England’s centre-forward taking the first shot and converting it by sending the ball down the middle.
