Cristiano Ronaldo starts 2025 with a historic goal

Cristiano Ronaldo

Dubai: Age is no object to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese man got things going early in the new year by scoring for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, a first goal by a footballer in his career.

A record-breaking streak

Cristiano Ronaldo made his first start in nearly a month after he scored a penalty as his side won 3-1 against Al Okhdood on Thursday. It was his 917th goal in his professional career and now has 60 goals from 60 Saudi Pro League appearances. And Ronaldo smashed home 24 calendar years in a row during his playing career, the first soccer player ever to do so.

Ronaldo has had a continuous run of 20+ goal-scoring excellence since his debut for Sporting Lisbon in 2002, which extends to 2025 and makes him one of the sport’s legends.

Ageless excellence

CR7 (40 in less than a month) scored a whopping 43 goals in 2024. He was also the calendar year’s top scorer in 2023 with 54 goals in his name.

Sadio Mane added two more to complete a needed win for Al Nassr who came from behind to beat Al Okhdood at Al Awwal Park. This victory brought Al Nassr third place with 28 points after Al Hilal and Al Ittihad.

Dominance against Al Okhdood

Cristiano Ronaldo has already hatched four times in three meetings with Al Okhdood in the Pro League, two home and one away. It is also the fourth goal he has hit in the first three matches against one side in the tournament after similar scores against Al Fateh, Al Wehda and Al Shabab.

Aiming for more glory

Ronaldo was just voted Best Middle East Player for the second year running, and won the Top Goalscorer of All Time award at the Globe Soccer Dubai Awards, so he’s not stopping with netting more goals and pleasing his fans.
