The Brazil international enjoyed a fine first campaign as a Red, following his move from Real Madrid, and been a real hit in his maiden campaign in England.
After picking up the Man-of-the-Match award in the Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle United, and heading in the opening goal, he has really made his mark at Old Trafford.
The home fans were able to show their appreciation when affording him a standing ovation, when he was replaced in the final league game, against Fulham.
Speaking ahead of the narrow Emirates FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City, Casemiro expressed his confidence in the Reds’ plans for more progress in 2023/24, particularly with Ten Hag having more time to implement more of his ideas and continue to shape the squad and our system his way.
“It’s absolutely right that we’re on the right track,” he told us. “We’re on the up and we’re growing as a team.
“I believe that we’ve been picking up on the mentality of the manager and the way that he wants us to play. It’s true that, in football terms, it’s very well, well not early, we already have our own philosophy, but, when you’re talking about football, it’s difficult because the manager is relatively new.
“We’ve been together one season. We know that other sides have also taken a while to start winning things, like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, who have also taken a while to start winning things with their other managers.
“And so we are on an upward curve,” he continued. “We’re taking on board the manager’s ideas and philosophy, and so we need to keep going step by step, gradually growing and improving.
“Of course, next season, it will also be very important for us to keep going with this growth.”
Casemiro and his team-mates can look forward to competing in the Champions League again next term, following our third-placed finish in the table, as the Reds strive to continue developing and competing for top honours.
