Burj Khalifa lights up and Ticket prices announced for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Explaining that expansion of the tournament’s scope functions without subsidiarity, ICC has surprisingly provided one more element: low-cost tickets for venues, starting at merely five dirhams.
More than 20 days remain until the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 and within this time frame, the inclusive earmarking envisaged to include match tickets for as little as five dirhams and no fee charges for those below 18 years of age. This effort aims to create a more permanent legacy for the tournament staged in the UAE.
As part of the launch, the ICC announced the spectacular launch of the laser show undertaken at the iconic Burj Khalifa. The short film began with a beautiful introduction about the tournament starting with words that could occupy even the tallest skyscrapers – light brimming towards them. This breathtaking occasion, not only underscored the significance of the tournament, but added sophistication to proceedings as well.
Speaking at a press event, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice stated that among the factors he considers captivating is the multicultural makeup of the UAE.
“It is a place that accommodates people from all over the planet.” Hence, since all 10 teams will be playing at home, they will enjoy the goodwill of local fans which makes it like a World Cup in their country. Bearing this in mind, I am pleased to inform you that the prices of the tickets will be as low as five dirhams and the kids under 18 years of age will get in for free.
Ten teams shall take part in the World Cup with Two groups of five which will engage in a sum of 23 matches within 18 days for the Women’s T20 World Cup trophy and it is scheduled to start October 3.
The round-robin format will be used once again in the upcoming tournament in which each team will have to play against all other four teams. It follows that, for every such group, each of them shall play one game against all the other members of that group.
Once the round-robin stage is completed, the top two teams from each group will proceed to the elimination rounds which are deemed to be more serious.
India, New Zealand, and Pakistan are some of the other countries that fall under Group A along with Australia while Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies as well as Scotland. The tournament included a total of 20 league matches that were played in the stadiums of Dubai and Sharjah where the match starting off the tournament was on October 3rd between Bangladesh and Scotland that was held in Sharjah.
The date for the semi-finals of the competition World Cup has been set for October 17, 1900 hours for a match at Dubai and October 18, 1900 hours for Sharjah. These are the last elimination fixtures and they will determine the teams that reach the final match.
The final match will take place on 20th October in Dubai, which will crown the victor of the sports activity and guarantee the hopes of many followers. Before the actual or main event, all the participating teams will play a series of friendly encounters which will be held between September 28 to October 01.
These one-sided encounters are designed to help the incorporated unions to fine-tune their strategies, assess their physical health and build cohesion ahead of the start of the other activities in due course. This vital period of time allows the teams to change some of the parts that do not seat well in the teams and join the competition at their optimum.
Addressing the media, Zaid Abbas, a board zealot of ECB made it clear that he is excited to be in the UAE as she prepares for the first international women’s event with Allardice. Abbas appreciated this achievement turning into a reality as far as the development of cricket in the UAE is concerned and noted the enhanced prospects of women’s cricket in this part of the world.
He was clear-cut on the desire of the tournament to inspire the younger generation of players and promote the sport in the country among the expatriates.
