Brazilian Football Match Shatters World Record With 51 Red Cards Following Massive Brawl

Total Chaos on the Pitch

An Under-20 Campeonato Mineiro semi-final in Brazil descended into absolute chaos this week. The referee abandoned the match before the 60-minute mark after issuing a staggering 51 red cards. The violent incident occurred during a tense Second Division clash between host side Uberlandia and local rivals Mamore. The teams played at the Estadio Parque do Sabia in Minas Gerais. Tensions completely boiled over in the 54th minute immediately after Mamore scored to take a commanding 3-1 lead.

A Provocative Celebration

The official match report from referee Fernando Patrick Drosghic Modesto detailed the brutal escalation. Mamore forward Davi ran directly toward the opposition bench to taunt the Uberlandia reserves and staff after scoring the third goal. Infuriated by this blatant provocation, Uberlandia goalkeeping coach Paulo Sergio Dias Dos Santos charged onto the pitch. He confronted the player aggressively, instantly sparking a massive full-scale brawl that took nearly 40 minutes to clear. Substitutes, technical staff, and even board members stormed the field, completely overwhelming the match officials.

Shattering the World Record

The pitch violence escalated to completely unprecedented levels. The referee noted that six local ball boys actually joined the massive altercation, hitting Mamore personnel directly with chairs and medical stretchers. Local military police had to rush the ground just to restore basic order. Uberlandia officials allegedly smashed Mamore equipment, while Mamore players completely vandalised the home team’s dressing room in heavy retaliation. The referee issued 48 red cards for the brawl, adding to three earlier dismissals, setting a new Guinness World Record of 51 red cards. This completely shatters the previous 2011 record of 36 red cards issued during a fifth-tier match in Argentina.
