Bayern Munich Triumph Over Monaco to Conclude Pre-Season Preparations

As the curtain falls on their pre-season training, Thomas Tuchel’s squad can now shift their focus towards the upcoming Supercup showdown against Leipzig, after securing a victory over Monaco.

Bayern Munich 4-2 AS Monaco
Goal Scorers: 0-1 Minamino 29′ (assisted by Ben Yedder), 1-1 Laimer 32′ (assisted by Musiala), 2-1 Musiala 42′ (assisted by Davies), 3-1 Gnabry (pen.) 45′, 3-2 Ben Yedder (pen.) 64′, 4-2 Sane 68′ (assisted by Coman)

Despite the absence of key players like Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting due to injuries, and Joshua Kimmich being rested, Bayern entered their final friendly match before the season opener with a confident demeanor, riding the wave of a well-executed pre-season regimen. Early on, Serge Gnabry tested Monaco’s goalkeeper Philipp Köhn twice, yet despite Bayern’s initial pressure, it was the Ligue 1 side that struck first. Takumi Minamino found the net following an assist from Wissam Ben Yedder, prompting a swift response from Thomas Tuchel’s squad. A slick exchange between Konrad Laimer and Jamal Musiala led to Laimer’s exquisite goal at the near post. The momentum continued as Alphonso Davies set up Musiala for another strike from close range. Bayern further solidified their control as Gnabry converted a penalty just before halftime.

For the second half, Bayern introduced Matthijs de Ligt and Leroy Sane, maintaining their rhythm as the record champions. Despite Mathys Tel’s effort hitting the post, it was evident that Bayern’s fourth goal was imminent. However, when Noussair Mazraoui fouled Minamino in the box, Monaco was granted a chance to narrow the margin, with Ben Yedder capitalizing from the penalty spot. Amid a flurry of changes for Bayern, Sane reestablished their two-goal advantage with a shot from the right that deflected off Köhn. Sven Ullreich made a sharp save against former Bayer Leverkusen forward Kevin Volland towards the end, sealing Bayern’s successful pre-season campaign.
