Bangladesh secured a 78-run win over Pakistan to clinch the second Test in Sylhet on Wednesday, completing a 2-0 series whitewash despite Mohammad Rizwan’s brave 94 in an unsuccessful chase.
Pakistan were 358 all out in the morning session on day five after chasing 437 for victory to level the series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Captain Shan Masood and Salman Agha contributed 71 runs apiece but it was Rizwan’s battling innings containing 10 fours that ensured Pakistan remained in the hunt until he was out off Shoriful Islam.
Taijul Islam, then took over and trapped Khurram Shahzad to give him 6-120 when he was caught at wide long-on to complete Bangladesh’s first series whitewash against Pakistan.

Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim then held Bangladesh’s second innings together with 137, propelling them to 390 and setting Pakistan a formidable target.

Captains React After Series Result
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said: “With our fast bowlers in hot conditions and on a flat wicket.
“That’s something we wanted to do better,” We lost too many wickets in batting sometimes, but now we are making some brilliant partnerships. A lot is also contributed to our tailenders.
His counterpart Shan called Pakistan “a lot of mistakes”.
Pakistan batting highlights:
Mohammad Rizwan scored 94
Shan Masood made 71
Salman Agha added 71 runs
You expect to be on the right side of it when you score 360 in the fourth innings of a game.”
In Test cricket, if you bowl a bad ball, you will be punished. There’s no mercy… You’re playing against heavyweights every week, and you have to work for your results. I think that’s the approach we need to take as a side.
