South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus named a 37-man rugby squad. The Springboks will compete in the upcoming Nations Championship. Erasmus included six uncapped players in the group.
Rewarding Developmental Progress
Yaqeen Ahmed and Sebastian de Klerk earned call-ups. Luan Giliomee, Markus Muller, Riley Norton and Emmanuel Tshituka also join the squad. All six players have previous experience within the national setup. Several represented the reserve team earlier this year.
Veterans Ruled Out Through Injury
Injuries ruled out several key veterans. Cheslin Kolbe, Eben Etzebeth, Andre Esterhuizen and Handre Pollard will miss the tournament. The coaching staff must rely on newer talent to fill these significant gaps.
Targeting Northern Hemisphere Success
South Africa will play away matches against Italy, France and Ireland. The team will then travel to Twickenham. The stadium hosts the finals weekend in late November. South Africa currently lead the Southern Hemisphere standings on points difference.
